Barbara Hogstad joined the Cascade School of Music faculty in 2011 as a licensed Kindermusik instructor. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration from the University of Pacific in Stockton California where she successfully completed numerous early childhood education courses. She is an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Barbara has over 30 years experience working with young children in many different settings including afterschool and preschool programs; educational programs through the YMCA and Park & Recreation; and private/public schools as a camp director, program director and preschool teacher. “Miss Barbara” as she is affectionately called by her students and families, is passionate about sharing the joy and learning of music with young children and, with a great sense of fun and creativity, has created music activities for the children in her various positions. She understands the value of music in the early physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children. Barbara is also passionate about educating parents about the importance of music for their young children, and strives to create a classroom environment that is fun, joyful, and secure for the whole family, where music becomes a natural part of their lives in and outside of the classroom.
